Day 325

Today was the funeral for my cousin, Brooke. It was such a sweet service. I just love how family comes together during hard times. Being at the service made me realize how much I love each one of my family members! I would do anything for them. Thanks for bringing us closer together, Brooke! We love you and miss you!

Day 324

I got a phone call from my mother yesterday morning telling me my cousin had died. Tonight, my family & I went to her viewing. Brooke was such an amazing person and artist! I am just sorry that I didn't get to know her better. She will be missed! Love you, lil Brookie!

Day 309

As I was walking to my car after school, I saw this. The children's school at Weber made this sign. Each kid put their hand prints on it as well as wrote a little note (of course the teachers had to write it for them). One note said, "Thanks for teaching my teacher about math. I would have been lost without her." The majority of these notes were absolutely hilarious to read, but overall they had a sweet message! YOU REALLY HAVE TOUCHED OUT LIVES FOREVER, DIANE PUGMIRE!

Day 305

Tonight was the viewing for my dear friend and teacher, Diane Pugmire. I am really going to miss Diane, but just being there brought me peace. As we entered the forrier (is that how you spell that?), there were tons of pictures set up. These pictures were some of my favorite, but my most favorite is the math equation picture (click on the image to see a bigger version). It may not make sense to some of you, so here you go. D1 + D2 stands for Diane + her husband. Then, all the parentheses underneath that represent her kids and their spouses. And all that equals infinity! Her husband came up with that, and I just thought it was so awesome! I also really liked the smaller hand drawn picture of Diane & Christ. It's so tender to me.

Day 302

Before class today, I went to go see if I could find my other math teacher. I wanted to talk to her about Diane, but she wasn't there when I got there. Because her office is right across the hall from Diane's office, it was hard to miss the large card on Diane's door. As I signed the card, I couldn't help but think about how unreal this whole situation seems. It's really hard for me to think that she's gone! I couldn't help but shed some tears as I looked through the pictures on Diane's door. I am going to miss her so very much! She was an amazing friend & teacher!

Day 301

One of the most amazing teachers I have ever had passed away this morning. She and another awesome teacher of mine were just named Math Teachers of the Year for the state of Utah! She is one of the main reasons why I decided to become a math specialist. I just can't believe she can be teaching class one day and be gone the next! Life is too short. I am going to miss her so much! Thanks for being such a great example to me, Diane! I love you & miss you!

Day 174

About two years ago, Andy & I both purchased the exact same laptops. They were pretty cheap, but they definitely did their job well! Well, Andy decided he wanted to get a netbook, so he sold his laptop on ksl.com the other day (GOODBYE OL' FRIEND). I didn't really want him to sell it because sometimes my laptop doesn't want to cooperate with me, so I use his and guess what happens today?! My laptop monitor quits working! It's not a big deal right now because I am home all day so I can use Andy's desktop computer, but what will I do when school starts up again? Hopefully, I can get it working again.

UPDATE: My laptop is up and running again! HOORAY!

Day 141

After work today, I had a ton of errands to run. As I was driving to one of the many places I had to go to, I realized I was very close to the cemetery that one of my very dearest friends was buried. I just felt like I needed to go visit his grave, and I wasn't sure if I would get the chance to on Memorial Day. So I did.

His name was Darwin Ray, and he was the greatest person anyone could ever meet. My sister & I were really good friends with his kids as well as with him. He was the cool dad in the neighborhood that always hung out and did wild & crazy things with us kids. He died on May 15, 2008 in an awful motorcycle accident. I will never forget the phone call I got from my sister, Kristina, to tell me he had passed. I was at work, and I ended up having to go home because I was crying uncontrollably. It was a very sad day for a lot of people. He was such a fun person to be around, and I am so lucky to have known him. Thanks for being such a great example to me, Starman! I miss you!
